    This new group will be lead by Cheryl Womack and will focus on crotchet projects for various charities. This month, we are collecting 30"x 30" afghan blankets for the NICU at St. John’s Hospital. All experience levels are welcome. Materials will be provided, or you can bring your own materials from home. Drop off your blankets throughout the month of May.     Gone for Good Document Destruction, an UCP Land of Lincoln initiative, will be at the library parking lot from 9-12 on Saturday May 5th. They provide quality shredding service in the Springfield area. They offer secure and complete document and information material destruction and recycling and provide meaningful employment for adults with disabilities. Please bring any documents you would like shredded to this event during the Village Clean Up Day.

    The Bloodmobile will be at the Library on May 15th from 3:30-6:00 p.m. Step up to the plate and save lives! With just an hour of your time, you can help 3 critically ill patients by making a life-saving donation.

    Summer Reading Kick Off Party with Musician Mike Anderson

    Free and open to the public!

    Let’s kick off the summer with some good music at the Sherman Public Library! The music and stories of Mike Anderson are sure to entertain all ages. Mike plays several instruments including the guitar, banjo, jaw harp, noseflute, bones, and more. He is best known as an outstanding mountain dulcimer player.

    Mike Anderson is one of the most versatile folk entertainers in the Midwest, and he is well known among central Illinois traditional music fans. Mike hosted a national award-winning children's TV show, created and ran the New Salem Storytelling Festival as well as the Clayville Music and Storytelling Festival, and was recognized as an outstanding Illinois educator as a 3rd grade teacher. All ages are welcome to attend.

    “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Magic Show presented by Richard Landry and Snowball

    “Animal Adaptations” presented by the Macon County Conservation District
    Friday June 16th 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Sherman Public Library
    Free and open to the public!

    The Macon County Conservation District will provide hands-on information and fun with live animals, mounts, and photos of wildlife. Volunteers will be called up to play “camouflage” which is an activity demonstrating the ability to blend into surroundings and shows how animals are designed to survive in nature. This program will engage your child and enhance their interest in the natural world.

    Serengeti Steve provides an educational and entertaining program for all spectators. This is not only a show, but also a unique, hands-on experience where Steve gets his audience totally involved in the program. “The Reptile Experience” is a fantastic program that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Serengeti Steve performs over 600 shows a year throughout the country and has been featured as a Las Vegas finalist on NBC's hit show "America's Got Talent.” His talents have even earned him a place in the famous "Guinness Book of World Records.”
