    Third Thursday Reading Series

2100 East Andrew Road, Sherman, IL, United States
2100 East Andrew Road, Sherman, IL, United States
This Third Thursday Reading Series event is to note the release of Ted Morrissey’s “The Curvatures of Hurt” audiobook, read by Jenny Bacon, as well as a special paperback edition of the long story, which is part of the prismatic novel “Crowsong for the Stricken.” Ted is the author of six works of fiction, including “Weeping with an Ancient God” (a Chicago Book Review Best Book of 2015) and the forthcoming “Mrs Saville.” His short stories and novel excerpts have appeared in more than fifty journals, among them GlimmerTrain, Pank, ink&coda, and Southern Humanities Review. In addition to teaching at Williamsville High School, he’s a lecturer in Lindenwood University’s MFA in Writing program (online). Jenny Bacon has been performing professionally for many years; she has created characters in the room with some of the masters of the American Theater, among them, Sam Shepard, Tony Kushner, Sarah Ruhl, Theresa Rebeck, Lisa Kron, David Rabe, and many others. She has worked with groundbreaking directors to execute their vision, Ivo van Hove, JoAnne Akalaitis, Daniel Aukin, Walter Bobbie, Robert Falls, Mary Zimmerman, Daniel Fish, and many, many others, garnering awards across America and a Herald Angel Award from the Edinburgh Festival. She has appeared on American television playing a variety of unfortunate souls in horrific circumstances, and, she says, has had an absolutely wonderful time doing it. There will be an OPEN MIC from 6 to 7, with the featured reading beginning at 7.
